Jazz radio show host visits Willowbrook

On April 22, Barry Winograd, host of ‘DCB Jazz and When Jazz Was King on WDCB 90.9 FM, visited Willowbrook to speak with English teacher Michael Sullivan’s Public Speaking class.

The students listen to Winograd’s broadcast each day during class and critique his public speaking skills. They recently formed a fan club for Winograd, complete with T-shirts made by Willowbrook Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher Courtney Vala. The group wrote letters to Winograd as well, and he responded to each one.

During his visit on April 22, Winograd shared his background and journey to becoming a radio show host and answered questions from the class. A group of students then performed a skit for Winograd that was a mock airing of his show. Winograd also posed for photos, signed autographs and handed out WDCB 90.9 FM memorabilia.
