Willowbrook hosts State sendoff celebration for Winter Guard

On March 23, Willowbrook hosted a State sendoff celebration for the school’s Winter Guard.

The team will compete in the Midwest Color Guard Circuit Championship on April 2 in La Porte, Ind.

The Willowbrook Color Guard and Winter Guard have had a successful year. They began the year with the Marching Band, performing their show with music from the band Queen. Marching season was a warmup for Winter Guard season, where the team competed in the Midwest Color Guard Circuit, a local circuit of Winter Guard International, under class Scholastic Regional A – Red. This is the first year the team has competed in that circuit, and the group received two first-place awards within their class. The team also finished in 2nd place at the Regional competition on March 20 at Carl Sandburg High School.

Members of the team are sophomore Michaela Phelps, sophomore Emily Luna, senior Kathleen McSweeney, junior Laura Fitzmaurice, senior Deandra Miller, junior Rachel Wiedman, senior Katherine Ricchetti, sophomore Kala Terselic, senior Cesia Garcia, senior Melissa Lopez, sophomore Alexandria Gulotta, freshman April Aquino, junior Laura Roby and sophomore Amanda Miller.
