Willowbrook Special Olympics Basketball Team members qualify for State competition, play at United Center

On Jan. 10, Willowbrook’s two Special Olympics Basketball Teams competed in a tournament at Unity Junior High School, and one of the teams qualified for the Special Olympics State Basketball competition.

That event will take place from March 11 to 13 at Illinois State University. Students who will participate in the State competition are freshman Nicholas Egan, sophomore Isabella Iasillo, freshman Rhiannon Iasillo, freshman Abdul Jalal, junior Alexandra Leo, freshman Mohammad Salamah, freshman Jack Tincknell, freshman Madelyn Tincknell, sophomore Shane Worden, freshman Issic Silva, junior Jose Simental and freshman Diego Saenz.

Nineteen team members also had the opportunity to play at the United Center on Jan. 7 before the Bulls game. They then watched the Bulls take on the Celtics.
