From April 9 to 11, Willowbrook’s Counseling Department hosted a Class of 2016 field trip to Illinois State University.
This was the second year the department offered this opportunity to freshmen students. The purpose of the field trip was to expose students to a college campus to learn about admission requirements and get a feel for what college life is like.
“Taking students as freshmen exposes them to this post-high school option and provides them with time to work toward attending a four-year college or university as their goal,” said Dana Whittaker, Willowbrook Guidance Counselor.
During the three-day field trip, more than 320 freshmen visited the Illinois State University campus. Their itinerary included an admissions presentation and a student-led walking tour of the campus, including a residence hall tour and lunch in a dining hall.
