On Sept. 7, Willowbrook alumni Corinne “Cori” Carmona and Louis Nagle took the stage during the annual Villa Park Oktoberfest.
Joining them was York High School graduate Tim Gauger. Gauger, a Young Life leader for Willowbrook and York and a staff member at Moody Bible Institute, met Carmona and Nagle and agreed to work with them on their music. The folk-alternative trio hopes to record a few songs before Carmona and Nagle return to college.
“We were thankful to have (Gauger’s) help,” Carmona said. “He has been performing for 15 years and has taught us so much. In fact, he’s the one who encouraged us to do the Oktoberfest performance.”
Carmona, a sophomore at John Paul the Great Catholic University in California, and Nagle, a freshman at College of DuPage, hope to continue pursuing music with Gauger during their breaks from school. Carmona plans to major in film (specifically acting), and Nagle plans to major in engineering.
“We really have a blast performing together,” Carmona said. “I’m looking forward to recording our original works and seeing the finished product.”
