Willowbrook seniors accepted to Elmhurst College during surprise visit from college representatives

On Nov. 30, 17 Willowbrook seniors received exciting news – they have been accepted to Elmhurst College.

The students were surprised with the announcement and a visit from Elmhurst College President Troy D. VanAken and the school’s mascot, Victor E. Bluejay. VanAken, District 88 Superintendent Dr. Scott Helton and Willowbrook Principal Dr. Daniel Krause congratulated the seniors and their families on being admitted to the college through its Early Action program and encouraged them to continue working hard to pursue their goals.

Each admittee was presented with a “Bluejay Box,” which contained a letter of acceptance, a scholarship offer, an Elmhurst cap and more. The Willowbrook recipients were awarded a combined $1,152,000 in scholarship money, which would be distributed throughout the students' four years at Elmhurst College. Several Willowbrook staff members who are Elmhurst College alumni also stopped by. To view a photo gallery from the event, see the images below.
