On April 17, about 15 Willowbrook students went on a field trip to Legendary Art Gallery in Chicago.
They are members of the school’s Advanced Placement (AP)/college-level Studio Art class and Black Organization for Student Success (BOSS) group.
During the visit, students saw the gallery’s “Black History Month Art Show: Black Excellence,” which featured artwork by African-American artists from the Chicago area. They also were able to speak with local artist Felipe Funderburg, who owns the gallery, and they participated in a painting activity led by Rosemarie Regulus, a local artist and parent of Willowbrook graduates.
