Willowbrook alumna earns silver medal during NAACP ACT-SO event

Willowbrook alumna Kyla Denwood (class of 2017) recently competed in the NAACP Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) and earned a silver medal in Music Composition.

According to a press release from the DuPage County ACT-SO, that event took place on July 21 in Baltimore. Denwood was part of the student DuPage County ACT-SO program, which tied for the second-highest number of total national medals awarded (a total of six) during the 39th Annual NAACP ACT-SO Awards Ceremony. ACT-SO is a yearlong program created to encourage high academic and cultural achievement among high school students of African descent. The primary focus is the development of projects for competition in the areas of STEM, Business, Humanities, Performing Arts and Visual Arts.
