Throughout the school year, the Willowbrook Guidance Department provides opportunities that help prepare students to be successful in college and careers.
As part of that commitment, the Guidance Department will host its annual College and Career Awareness Week from March 21 to 24. Throughout the week, seniors will have the opportunity to fill a wall at the school with the names of colleges and universities they plan to attend next year. Next to that area, faculty and staff have provided information about their education background, careers and interesting/notable facts.
On March 21, representatives from the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Guard will meet with students during a Military Fair to discuss what each branch has to offer with regard to post-high school options. Students also will have the opportunity to take the ASVAB Exam, which is an aptitude battery exam provided by the military that measures a student’s abilities and helps predict academic and career success.
On March 22, about 60 career professionals and local businesses will share their insight and experience in various fields with students during Willowbrook’s Career and Vocational Fair. A Résumé Workshop also will take place that day for students.
On March 23, representatives from about 60 colleges and universities will visit Willowbrook to speak with students about their respective campus during a College and Vocational Fair. Students will be able to ask questions directly and will receive information about their various post-high school options. An Essay-Writing Workshop also will take place that day to help students prepare for their college essays.
