Willowbrook hosts Young Hearts for Life cardiac screening event

If you stopped by Willowbrook on Feb. 11, you might have noticed the field house was filled with cardiac screening machines, doctors, nurses and volunteers.

We were thrilled to participate in the Young Hearts for Life® (YH4L) Cardiac Screening Program on that day. Our No. 1 priority at District 88 is the safety and well-being of our students, and this event allowed us to provide students with free electrocardiograms to identify those at risk for heart conditions.

It was amazing to see the field house filled with hundreds of students, and we’re incredibly thankful to Young Hearts for Life for offering us this opportunity to help ensure our students’ health. It was a tremendous day – and we couldn’t have done it alone! We screened more than 850 students thanks to:

  • The staff and volunteers at Young Hearts for Life
  • More than 70 community volunteers, who attended a training session and assisted us for 4 to 9 hours on the day of the event
  • Anyway's and Jersey Mike's Subs, who donated lunch for those working the event
  • Odeum Expo Center, who provided the privacy stations
  • And of course Edward-Elmhurst Health, who sponsored the progra

We know this event made a positive difference in the lives of our students, and we truly appreciate everyone who made these screenings possible. For more information about Young Hearts for Life, go to www.YH4L.org. Thank you for your continuous support of Willowbrook!
