District 88 celebrates Earth Day

According to www.earthday.org, “Each year, Earth Day – April 22 – marks the anniversary of what many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. Earth Day broadens the base of support for environmental programs, rekindles public commitment and builds community activism throughout the world through a broad range of events and activities. More than one billion people participate in campaigns every year.”

Addison Trail and Willowbrook hosted events to celebrate Earth Day. At Addison Trail, the Environmental Club celebrated Green Week by sharing information with students and staff from April 21 to 23 about how they can make a positive difference to keep the earth healthy and clean. At Willowbrook, the Environmental Club hosted a campus cleanup after school on April 22 in honor of Earth Day. Students picked up trash around the school and planted flowers.
