Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department assists students with course selection process for 2015-16
It’s time for students to select courses for the 2015-16 school year.
The classes of 2016 and 2017 will select their courses in February during their physical education class (members of the class of 2018 selected their courses in December and January). Here is the schedule:
- Class of 2017: Feb. 3 through 6
- Class of 2016: Feb. 10 through 20
The Addison Trail Guidance Department encourages parents/guardians to discuss course selection with their student. Course selection is a vital part of a student’s high school career, and parental involvement is essential to assist students in making successful academic choices. The Guidance Department understands that during the registration process, students might need extra time to discuss courses with their counselor. Students will be able to set up appointments with their counselor to follow up with any questions they have or to change their course selections. Students have until March 3 to make changes to course selections. All course selections will be considered final after March 3.
Below are important reminders about the registration process.
- Students must be enrolled in at least six periods, plus a lunch.
- Schedules are computer generated, and counselors are unable to confirm a specific schedule.
- Course selections will be considered final after March 3.
- A parent/guardian must sign the registration form.
Parents/guardians who would like to meet with their student’s counselor to discuss course registration can contact the student’s counselor directly. Counselors also will be available during the Guidance Department Open House from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 26.
