It has been an amazing year for Willowbrook athletics.

We’ve had student-athletes from eight sports qualify for State competition, three Conference championships and 14 student-athletes sign to play at the collegiate level. Below are some highlights from the spring season.

Girls Softball
The Girls Softball Team has continued its recent run of success again this year. The girls also have earned the No. 9 seed in the Bartlett Sectional. The girls open up the playoffs in the Rolling Meadows Regional versus Fremd on May 27. The Regional Final will be played on May 31.

Girls Badminton
The Girls Badminton Team has shown consistency in excellence during the past 14 years. The Lady Warriors were again Sectional Champions and qualified for the IHSA Girls Badminton State Tournament last weekend at Eastern Illinois University. The girls finished 14th overall. The girls who competed at State are senior Becky Kielminski (alternate), junior Sydney Planz (doubles), senior Maddie Arnold (doubles), senior Katherine Hinman (singles), senior Amanda Wendt (singles), senior Janine Johnson (doubles) and junior Brooke Bimber (doubles).

Girls Soccer
The Girls Soccer Team has had another successful season. The ladies played at Toyota Park this year as part of the Windy City Ram Classic Soccer Tournament and also played in the finals of the Niles West Tournament. The girls finished the regular season with a record of 11-11-1.

Boys Volleyball
The Boys Volleyball Team has been going through a growing process this year. With only one senior on the floor, the team has had a great opportunity to learn on the court. The boys are playing their best volleyball at the right time. They have faced several of the top teams in the state. The team will open up Regional play on May 26.

Boys Gymnastics
The Boys Gymnastics Team has again had an outstanding year. Despite fighting through several injuries, the boys finished in 2nd place in the Conference. The team also had an exceptional outing at the Sectional meet and finished in 4th place. Four individuals qualified for the State meet last weekend at Hinsdale Central. The boys who competed at State are junior Bret Golz (floor and high bar), senior Colton Bach (vault), senior Corey Coman (pommel horse) and junior Keawe Winstead (pommel horse – Sectionals champion).
