During its April 16 meeting, the DuPage Area Occupational Education System (DAOES) Board of Directors named Willowbrook senior Kenya Hernandez-Rodriguez as a Technology Center of DuPage (TCD) Student of the Month for April.
Hernandez-Rodriguez is a student in TCD’s Emergency Medical Technician Program and was nominated by TCD Emergency Medical Technician Coordinator and Instructor Roger Bayne and Emergency Medical Technician Instructor Dave Dinelli.
“(Hernandez-Rodriguez) is a natural leader within her squad and consistently demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence,” Bayne and Dinelli said. “She comes to class fully prepared each day and has earned an outstanding 95.27%, maintaining A-level performance across all assignments. (Hernandez-Rodriguez) actively engages in her learning by asking thoughtful, critical-thinking questions and challenging herself to explore differential diagnoses for patients. As a certified nurse assistant, (Hernandez-Rodriguez) has already begun her clinical experience, where she continues to impress. During one call, her ability to communicate effectively in Spanish proved invaluable. Beyond the classroom and clinical setting, (Hernandez-Rodriguez) is committed to serving her community. She participated in a culinary-led initiative to provide a Thanksgiving meal for first responders. (Hernandez-Rodriguez) and her squad personally delivered the meal to the Addison Police Department, where it was greatly appreciated by the on-duty officers. (Hernandez-Rodriguez’s) dedication, skill and compassion set her apart, and she is well on her way to making a meaningful impact in the health care field.”
