Willowbrook counselor honored with Student Activity Advisor Award

Willowbrook is proud to share counselor Kimberly Mikesell (pictured above) recently received the Student Activity Advisor Award through the Illinois Directors of Student Activities.

According to https://idsa-activities.org, this honor “recognizes individuals who, through their time and effort, have made an impact on their club or activity and who exemplify the ideal advisor/sponsor.”

Below is an excerpt from the nomination that was submitted on behalf of Mikesell.

“Mikesell has been instrumental in the development of Willowbrook’s Key Club and is widely recognized for her positivity and genuine care for students. She creates a welcoming, inclusive environment, where all students feel valued and encouraged to participate. Mikesell consistently prioritizes student engagement by offering meaningful opportunities to stay connected to school life such as organizing movie nights before football games. Her upbeat attitude and willingness to step in wherever needed are evident in her support of other student activities and clubs when a sponsor was unavailable. Mikesell’s dedication, compassion and student-first mindset have had a lasting and meaningful impact on our school community.”
