During its Jan. 15 meeting, the DuPage Area Occupational Education System (DAOES) Board of Directors named Willowbrook junior Zachary “Zach” Gonzalez as a Technology Center of DuPage (TCD) Student of the Month for January.

Gonzalez is a first-year student in TCD’s Construction Trades program and was nominated by TCD instructors Brice DeMayo and George Orsi.

“(Gonzalez) consistently demonstrates initiative, dependability and pride in his work,” DeMayo and Orsi said in their nomination of Gonzalez. “He is eager to learn new methods and confidently takes on unfamiliar tools and techniques. (Gonzalez) willingly stepped up to work in advanced areas of construction such as roofing, exterior siding and sealing – even though these skills have not yet been taught in the first-year program.”

They added Gonzalez is highly dependable and can be counted on to see any project or assignment through to completion.

“Most notably, he played a key role in helping complete the house that was donated to the College of DuPage Truck Driving School, demonstrating both strong work ethic and teamwork,” they said. “In addition to his technical skills, Gonzalez represents TCD with professionalism and confidence. He voluntarily speaks with visiting groups of students and was a strong advocate for the program during Explorer Days. His positive attitude, leadership and willingness to go above and beyond make him highly deserving of this recognition.”
