On Nov. 17, Willowbrook art students participated in a field trip and traveled to the home studios of two local artists (pictured above).
During their visits, the students experienced demonstrations and activities.
The first stop was the studio and gallery of retired Willowbrook Art Department Head Robert Lee Fritz. Pupils learned about Fritz’s free-blown glass company and took part in an activity about building narrative stories in art through symbolism.
The second stop was with John and Sue Nester, where the group explored the couple’s fused glass and ceramic studio and enjoyed an interactive raku pottery firing using horse hair and feathers.
