Willowbrook names new Girls Soccer Team Head Coach

Willowbrook is excited to announce Dwayne Cruz as the new Head Coach of the school’s Girls Soccer Team.

Cruz brings more than two decades of extensive experience and a distinguished track record of success to Willowbrook. He has served as Director of Coaching for the Arlington Aces since 2012 and as Head Coach of the Morton College Women’s Soccer Team since 2020 – where he manages all aspects of soccer programs, from training and game strategies to academic support for athletes.

Prior to his current positions, Cruz served as Head Coach of the Harper College Women's Soccer Team for 18 years, from 2000 to 2018. During that time, he led the team to multiple achievements, including NJCAA Tournament appearances and numerous N4C regular season and tournament championships. His coaching accomplishments are highlighted by 156 wins, consistent national rankings and mentoring 40 All-N4C-Conference Award winners.

Beyond collegiate coaching, Cruz also has made significant contributions to youth and high school soccer, directing the KUFC Premier elite girls program to a national championship in 2005 and developing more than 70 college scholarship athletes.

Cruz’s expertise is further solidified by his prestigious certifications, including the National Soccer Coaches Association Director of Coaching Diploma and the United States Soccer Federation National “D” License.

“We are confident Coach Cruz’s leadership and expertise will elevate our girls soccer program to new heights,” said Ed Sullivan, Willowbrook Assistant Principal for Athletics and Operations. “Cruz’s dedication to developing athletes on and off the field perfectly aligns with Willowbrook's mission, vision and values. (We) warmly welcome Coach Cruz and anticipate a bright and successful future for our girls soccer program.”
