Willowbrook High School community invited to attend Celebration of Life for former coach and teacher Al Loew

The family of former Willowbrook coach and teacher Al Loew invites all students, staff, parents/guardians, alumni, community members and friends to attend a Celebration of Life. All are welcome to come and share stories and memories.

When: Noon to 4 p.m. on June 14, 2025

Where: Sugar Creek Golf Course, 500 E. Van Buren St. in Villa Park

Loew passed away in December 2024 at the age of 92.

Loew served as the Willowbrook Girls Badminton Coach from 1980 to 2004, and he built the program from the ground up. Highlights of his Girls Badminton career include growing the program from 15 to 42 players, winning state in 1997 (and finishing as co-champions in 1998) and winning Conference four times. He was inducted into the Willowbrook Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2011 and the Illinois Association of Badminton Coaches (IABC) Hall of Fame Class of 2023.

Loew also taught in the Industrial Arts Department and coached football and girls golf. He left a lasting legacy through the guidance, influence and impact he made on his automotive students and athletes.
