Four members of Willowbrook Speech Team to compete in Sectional Tournament

Four members of the Willowbrook Speech Team have qualified to compete in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Sectional Tournament, after competing in the Regional Tournament on Feb. 9 at Fenton High School. Sectionals will take place on Feb. 15 at Downers Grove South High School.

Those students are (pictured above, in the order in which they're listed):

Dramatic Interpretation: Senior Margaret Brennan (earned 2nd place at the Regional Tournament)

Humorous Interpretation: Senior Jason Nelson (earned 4th place at the Regional Tournament)

Original Comedy: Junior Suha Salman (earned 2nd place at the Regional Tournament)

Original Oratory: Sophomore Alina Iqbal (earned 3rd place at the Regional Tournament)

Radio Speaking: Junior Suha Salman (earned 2nd place at the Regional Tournament)


The team finished in 4th place at Regionals, and the students below were named as Finalists.

Dramatic Duet Acting: Sophomore Bridget Krigsholm and freshman Shem Rodrigues

Extemporaneous Speaking: Freshman Shem Rodrigues

Humorous Duet Acting: Senior Jason Nelson and junior Malachy Heneghan

Impromptu Speaking: Senior Margaret Brennan

Informative Speaking: Sophomore Aila Qaiser

Oratorical Declamation: Sophomore Mia Ojeda
