On April 23, Willowbrook hosted an Evening of Honors ceremony to induct and reaffirm students into the school’s Math Honor Society, National English Honor Society, World Language Honor Society, Science National Honor Society and Civitas (the school’s Social Studies Honor Society). The event also recognized recipients of the Human Relations Award.

Math Honor Society
Student speaker: Senior Maximiliano Lopez
To be inducted into Willowbrook’s Math Honor Society, juniors must complete five semesters of eligible courses and receive grades of As or Bs in those courses. Seniors must complete seven semesters of eligible courses and receive an A or B, or an A for every C, in those courses.
National English Honor Society
Student speaker: Senior Sean O’Brochta
To be inducted into Willowbrook’s National English Honor Society, students must complete at least four semesters of English courses and have a minimum 3.5 unweighted GPA in their English courses.
World Language Honor Society
Student speakers: Juniors Daniel Javier and Paola Perez
The World Language Honor Society at Willowbrook is affiliated with three National Honor Society chapters – Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (for Spanish), Société Honoraire de Français (for French) and Delta Epsilon Phi (for German). To be inducted, students must complete at least three semesters of the same language and have a minimum 3.75 unweighted GPA in their specific language of study and a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
Science National Honor Society
Student speaker: Senior David May
To be inducted into Willowbrook’s Science National Honor Society, juniors must have completed one science honors course, or be enrolled in a science honors course. Seniors must have completed two science honors courses, or have completed one science honors course and be enrolled in one science honors course. Inductees must be enrolled in a science class, have a 3.0 overall GPA and a 3.5 GPA in science classes.
Civitas (Social Studies Honor Society)
Student speaker: Senior Lucia DiTerlizzi
Kathy Marcyniuk Scholarship recipients: Seniors Lucia DiTerlizzi and Rylan Walsh
To be inducted into Civitas, students must have a minimum 3.5 weighted GPA in social studies classes, three semesters or more of a social studies class, and it is based on teacher recommendations.
Human Relations Award
Speaker: Karina Klimek, Willowbrook Dean
Students who receive this award are recognized for their attention to cultural diversity and human dignity and for reinforcing that behavior in all they do for Willowbrook and surrounding communities. Recipients are nominated by Willowbrook staff members for their outstanding character, sense of others and selfless behavior.
