Willowbrook Flag Football Team enjoys preseason success and unique experiences, including designing a Willowbrook-inspired Nike shoe

The 2023 season hasn’t officially begun for the Willowbrook Flag Football Team, but the Lady Warriors have experienced an exciting start to the year.

• From Aug. 23 to 25, the girls participated in the Nike Football Kickoff Classic at Nike World Headquarters in Oregon. Willowbrook was one of four flag football teams invited to compete. For more information, including how to watch a recap of the games, go to https://tinyurl.com/2f82fwy6.

As part of that event, the team had the opportunity to design a special-edition, Willowbrook-inspired Nike Air Force 1 shoe (pictured above). Stakeholders can buy their own customizable shoe at https://www.nike.com/u/custom-nike-air-force-1-low-by-you-10001646/1692937182951#Builder.

• On Aug. 19, the team competed in the annual High School Girls Flag Football Jamboree, which took place at Englewood STEM High School. The Bears joined with the Chicago Public League and a handful of corporate sponsors to host the event. Click on the video above to watch a recap from FOX 32 Chicago.

• On Aug. 27, the team gave back to the community and helped facilitate a Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association (NEDSRA) Flag Football Tournament at Willowbrook (pictured above).

The Willowbrook Flag Football Team's first game of the season will begin at 5 p.m. on Sept. 9. It will take place at home against Larkin.
