Willowbrook earns 2023-24 Best U.S. High Schools recognition by U.S. News & World Report

District 88 is pleased to share Willowbrook has earned recognition as one of the 2023-24 Best U.S. High Schools.

The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on nearly 25,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college. District 88 has about 50 languages and more than 30 countries represented among its families, and almost half of the nearly 4,000 students at District 88 speak a language other than English at home. The district is extremely proud of that diversity and celebrates it as an asset for the district’s students, schools and communities. 

Willowbrook and District 88 remain committed to making sure each student is college ready, career ready, culturally ready and future ready through providing rigorous, yet flexible and individualized, programming to meet the needs of the student population. District 88 students and families save an average of $1 million in college tuition each year by taking Advanced Placement exams and dual-credit courses. They also earn more than 1,000 certifications each year in culinary arts, automotive technology, preschool, child development, building trades and engineering and manufacturing. And they attend colleges/universities throughout the country, including Ivy League schools, military academies and more.

Willowbrook and District 88 graduation rates consistently remain above the state level at about 90 percent, and students continue to receive state and national recognitions in academics, athletics and extracurricular activities.
