Willowbrook freshmen meet with eighth-graders to help with the transition to high school

The transition to high school can be daunting and overwhelming and can cause students to have feelings of fear and apprehension.

To help alleviate that anxiety, a group of Willowbrook freshmen who are enrolled in social studies teacher Brett Maguire’s Advanced Placement (AP)/college-level Human Geography class met with eighth-graders at Jackson Middle School on Feb. 25 to offer advice and share their high school experience.

The middle-schoolers have been recommended for AP and honors classes at Willowbrook, so the Willowbrook students discussed the rigors that go along with taking those courses. They also talked about time management, how to get involved and the importance of taking advantage of every opportunity available at Willowbrook.

The Willowbrook students who attended are Tamara Aledwan, Isabel Bates, Carlos Guerrero, Ella Lopez, Dunia Mchabcheb, Natalie McKenna, Anthony Porter and Troy Wisner.
