Willowbrook Music Department recognizes and honors student-musicians

The Willowbrook Music Department recently hosted/participated in three exciting events to recognize and honor student-musicians.

Tri-M Honor Society induction ceremony

On Oct. 28, 24 students were inducted into Willowbrook’s Tri-M (Modern Music Masters) Honor Society, and 23 students were reaffirmed (pictured above, top). To see a list of the 2021-22 Tri-M members, go to https://www.dupage88.net/site/public/files/?item=6130.

During the induction ceremony, students were welcomed and congratulated by Willowbrook Music Department Head Karyn Wolcott. Each inductee received a pin, a certificate and a membership card. Members also performed a student recital (pictured above, bottom – from left to right are sophomore Sean O’Brochta, senior Matthew Baumann and senior Keith Harris).

To be inducted into the Tri-M Honor Society, students must have a 3.0 GPA, be a performer in the top band, choir or orchestra at Willowbrook and have at least a “B” average in their music classes. Tri-M is a national organization that connects music students in high schools throughout the U.S. By becoming a member, students have access to scholarships and other information through the National Association for Music Education.

Tri-M Honor Society members are leaders in their respective performing ensembles and will help at concerts, perform community and Music Department service, organize music meetings and host Music In Our Schools Month (a national event) in March.
