2021 National Merit Scholarship Program
Willowbrook senior Caitlin Brennan (pictured above) has been named as a Finalist in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), Brennan now has the opportunity to earn National Merit Scholarship awards. To become a Finalist, Brennan had to submit a detailed application that provided information about her academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment and honors and awards received. According to the NMSC, more than 1.5 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The NMSC will begin notifying scholarship winners in March.
Willowbrook seniors (pictured above, from left to right) Matthew Burns, Sarah Fairbank and Samantha Williams have been named as Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program, conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the U.S. were recently recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they won't continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
