Willowbrook seniors accepted to Elmhurst College during surprise visit from college representatives

On Dec. 4, 13 Willowbrook seniors received exciting news – they have been accepted to Elmhurst College.

The students were surprised with the announcement and a visit from Elmhurst College President Troy D. VanAken and the school’s mascot, Victor E. Bluejay. VanAken and Willowbrook Principal Dr. Daniel Krause congratulated the seniors and their families on being admitted to the college through its Early Action program and encouraged them to continue working hard to pursue their goals.

The Willowbrook recipients were awarded a combined $220,000 a year in scholarships and grants. Each admittee also received a “Bluejay Box” in the mail, which contained a letter of acceptance, a scholarship offer, an Elmhurst cap and more.

The students who were admitted are Ayanaa Arif, Moustafa Elghor, Jaqueline Hernandez, Le Tavia Hill, Jake Jagiello, Makaylah Jones, Caden Mielke, Claudia Schmidt, Dorothy Tate, Mikayla Tomaszewski, Senica Velentzas, Talhah Waheed and Kaitlyn Walker.
