The Addison Trail Guidance Department’s annual College Fair took place on Sept. 12 in the commons area at the school and provided an opportunity for students to gain exposure to the many options that await them after high school.

Nearly 100 colleges and universities attended the event, and pupils had the chance to speak with representatives from those institutions and obtain information about school life and various majors. Students walked through the commons and checked out the booths, stopping to learn more about the colleges/universities that appealed to them.

“I found many different colleges that pertain to my major,” said Julissa Flores, Addison Trail senior. “I am very excited to start applying to those. I am really grateful that they helped me with the process.”

The representatives acquainted themselves with the students’ interests and goals. Feven Girmay, an admissions counselor at Quincy University, said this event is always one of her favorites.

“I am so happy to be a part of this event, because I understand the struggles of high school seniors when they start applying to colleges, and that is why I started this job,” Girmay said. “I wanted it to be more stress free in the future.”

The focus of the event is not just to assist upperclassmen with the college decision and application process, but also to help underclassmen realize the importance of thinking about and planning for life after high school. The goal is to help make sure students are prepared to discuss their future plans with their counselor and parents/guardians.
