Willowbrook to host Senior Parent Night 'College Applications and Decision Process'

At 6 p.m. on Aug. 29, the Willowbrook Guidance Department will host a Senior Parent Night focused on the college application and decision process.

The presentation will take place in room C2 at Willowbrook and is designed to provide parents with information about the college application and decision process.

"We know for many parents, especially first-time parents, this time can be very overwhelming," said Cathy Bendicsen, Director of Guidance at Willowbrook. “Our hope is to educate parents, provide resources, answer questions and ultimately ease their stress through the process."

The evening's agenda will mirror the presentation given to seniors during their English class, with the hope to facilitate conversation between students and their parents. Topics will include the process of applying to colleges, essays and personal statements, letters of recommendation, résumé building, college entrance testing, review of the college search process and a brief introduction to financial aid and other available funding such as scholarships.
