District 88 participates in 12th Annual Shape of Addison Town Hall Meeting

District 88 Board of Education Member Thomas Edmier participates in the 12th Annual Shape of Addison Town Hall Meeting on Jan. 23.

On Jan. 23, District 88 participated in the 12th Annual Shape of Addison Town Hall Meeting, where Board presidents and administrators from the Village of Addison, the Addison Public Library, the Addison Park District, the Addison Police Department, the Addison Fire Protection District, Addison School District 4 and District 88 shared with residents an update with regard to what’s going on in the community.

District 88 Board of Education Member Thomas Edmier spoke on behalf of the district, and he and District 88 Superintendent Dr. Scott Helton were available to answer questions from community members. Topics Edmier discussed included:

  • School safety and security updates
  • Academic, athletic, extracurricular and community service successes from Addison Trail and Willowbrook
  • Continued efforts to provide students with dual-credit and career certification opportunities to help ensure they are college and career ready
  • Implementation of a new delivery model for instructional technology for students
  • Implementation/highlights of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
  • Update on District 88’s Strategic Plan process
  • Financial highlights, including the Property Tax Relief Grant and efforts to reduce costs for taxpayers through cooperative purchasing and sharing services
  • Welcoming new Board of Education member Tina Haralambopoulos
