Addison Trail and Willowbrook students participate in West Suburban Conference workshop at The Morton Arboretum

On Sept. 7, Addison Trail and Willowbrook students and staff members participated in a West Suburban Conference workshop at The Morton Arboretum in Lisle.

The Addison Trail students who attended are pupils of Andrea Grossart, horticulture and biology teacher. They are seniors David Castillo, Adriana Gutierrez, Braden Lee and Jasmine Reynoso.

The Willowbrook students who attended are members of the school’s Environmental Club, sponsored by Justine Bryers. They are juniors Christina Gomez, Elizabeth Swastek, Jake Jagiello and Erick Heredia Marquez.

Addison Trail Assistant Principal Iridia Niewinski and Willowbrook Assistant Principal Bob Daly also went on the field trip, along with 14 other schools in the West Suburban Conference.

During the workshop, participants engaged in the Restoration Stewards Program, which involved completing an educational service project in restoration to assist The Morton Arboretum with natural areas management and conservation work. They also went on a Tree Science Showcase, where research members from The Morton Arboretum shared information about various careers available in tree science and how technology is informing their research.
