On Feb. 21, Addison Trail hosted a signing ceremony for senior Sofia Susa, who has committed to play volleyball at Millikin University. She will be a libero/defensive specialist for the Women’s Volleyball Team.
Susa celebrated with teammates, friends, administrators, staff members and family members. Susa is a two-year member of the Addison Trail Varsity Girls Volleyball Team and said highlights of her career so far include reaching more than 200 digs this past season and finishing in 3rd place at a qualifier with her club volleyball team last year.
Susa has been playing volleyball for six years and said the camaraderie of the sport is what makes her want to continue at the collegiate level.
“From the second I touched a volleyball, I knew I loved it,” she said. “You need six players to come together to make something click, and I’ve always found it so fascinating. It’s a sport where it’s something bigger than yourself. You realize a lot of what you do on the court is to benefit your team and to try to make things work. I’ve built so many great bonds with my teammates through the years, and I can’t imagine not having volleyball in my life after high school.”
Susa plans to pursue a degree in nursing at Millikin University.
