Addison Trail Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher Keith Santini has had a busy summer.

In June, Santini served as a Lead Judge during the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kentucky. According to www.skillsusa.org, SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel through providing educational programs, events and competitions that support CTE.

Santini also presented on “Transmission Update and Teaching Transmissions” in July during the North American Council of Automotive Teachers Conference, which took place in Michigan. In that session, Santini discussed some of the new technology that has been released for transmissions for the 2017 model year and what is coming for 2018. Teaching techniques and various methods used in the classroom and in the lab also were highlighted.

Earlier this year, Santini’s college-level book (which he co-authored with Kirk VanGelder), entitled “Automotive Automatic Transmission and Transaxles,” was published by Jones & Bartlett Learning, LLC. The book is available through most bookstores and online booksellers or at www.jblearning.com.
