Addison Trail hosts State send-off celebration for members of Science Olympiad Team

On April 27, Addison Trail hosted a State send-off celebration for members of the school’s Science Olympiad Team who competed at the State Tournament. That event took place on April 29 at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The students who competed at State are senior Abdul Kittaneh, senior Jonathan Loi, sophomore Christopher Voinea, junior Robessa Llanto, senior Eric Moy, senior Szymon Popowski, senior Max Lopez, junior David Zielinski, junior Michelle Ramirez, sophomore Benny Zhao, senior Tracy Pham, junior Theodora Koulouvaris, senior Anton Nguyen and junior Miguel Gutierrez.

Junior varsity team members also competed in trial events at the State Tournament. They are senior Paulina Ramirez, freshman Cindy Pham, junior Nick Czorniak, freshman Dhruv Patel, freshman Andreja Duncevic and freshman Tiffany Truong.

According to www.illinoisolympiad.org, Illinois Science Olympiad (ISO) is a non-profit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by students and teachers. ISO accomplishes its goals through classroom activities, research, training workshops and the encouragement of intramural, district, regional, state and national tournaments.
