Addison Trail student-athletes represent Blazer Pride during fall sports season

It has been another tremendous season at Addison Trail, and the student-athletes certainly continued the Blazer Pride that is Addison Trail Athletics! Below are highlights from the fall season.

Football: The Football Team finished the year with a record of 4-5 on the season and 3-3 in Conference. The team’s season was filled with ups and downs, but the players continued to compete. Impressive victories over Downers Grove South (34-28), Morton (47-28) and Proviso East (48-12) highlighted the season. Twelve seniors received All-Academic honors, and six players earned All-Conference honors.

Boys Soccer: The boys finished the season 22-2. They had a 17-game winning streak before they lost to Conant in the Sweet 16. The team had 10 All-Academic and five All-Conference players. Senior Tom Kania made the Chicago Fire Soccer Club’s All-State All-Academic Team. Highlights of the season were: Joe Novy tournament Champions, PepsiCo Showdown tournament Champions, winning a Regional title for the first time since 2000 and outscoring teams 78-17 on the year. The team had 14 shutouts, and its only losses were to an Elite Eight team and a Final Four team. Senior Enrique Luna-Casillas was named All-State, senior Edmond Montano received All-Sectional honors and Kania made the Honorable Mention All-Sectional Team. The boys took 2nd place in the West Suburban Conference Gold Division. They were ranked as high as No. 3 in the state by Chicagoland Soccer, No. 2 by the Daily Herald and No. 18 in the nation by MaxPreps. This was certainly a season to remember for Addison Trail Boys Soccer!

AT-WB Girls Swimming and Diving: The AT-WB Girls Swimming and Diving Team finished in 3rd place in the West Suburban Conference Gold Division. The team was led by captains senior Hannah Hippensteel (Willowbrook), senior Annalise Morrone (Addison Trail) and sophomore Elissa Haake (Willowbrook). All-Academic swimmers were Morrone, Hippensteel, senior Klea Gjonaj (Addison Trail), senior Savannah Catalano (Willowbrook) and senior Isabelle Hernandez (Addison Trail). All-Conference swimmers were Gjonaj, Morrone, sophomore Anna Christiansen (Willowbrook), junior Grace Roucka (Willowbrook) and junior Michelle Ramirez (Addison Trail). Haake was the West Suburban Conference Gold Division Champion in the 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle, and she qualified to compete in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Swimming and Diving State Meet in those events as well.

Girls Tennis: Girls Tennis had one of its most successful seasons in recent years. The team finished 10-5, which is the best record of Head Coach Justin Hegner’s 11-year career. The girls finished in 4th place in the West Suburban Conference Gold Division. Second singles player senior Pamela Kobeszko, the first doubles team of seniors Jessica Bach and Gianna Sarli and the second doubles team of seniors Meryem Ahmed and Viany Ortiz took home All-Conference honors by placing 3rd at Conference.

Girls Volleyball: The Girls Volleyball Team had a stellar season, finishing with an overall record of 23-13 and 5-1 in Conference. A highlight included a victory over West Suburban Conference Silver Division Champion and returning State runner-up Glenbard West. The Addison Trail team was ranked No. 16 by the Daily Herald, and senior Sarah Petrbok was recognized as a Daily Herald All-Area player.

Boys Golf: The Boys Golf Team ended its season in 3rd place in the West Suburban Conference Gold Division. Junior Jett Ramir and sophomore Blaise Morris received All-Conference honors, and seniors Dan Simon, George Neri and Kristian Santiago received All-Academic honors. Ramir and Morris, along with junior Richard Troha, also advanced to the Sectional tournament.

Girls Cross-Country: The Girls Cross-Country Team had a great season. The freshmen-sophomore team placed 3rd at the Leyden Invite and had two medalists at that meet. Four team members earned All-Conference honors, and all 15 seniors earned All-Academic honors.

For the fall season, Addison Trail had 23 All-Conference student-athletes and 65 All-Academic student-athletes. We look forward to more athletic successes during the winter season. Go, Blazers!
