As part of the Addison Trail Guidance Department’s goal to prepare students for post-high school success, counselors will meet with sophomores on Nov. 2, 3, 9 and 10 to help them explore career options through Naviance.
Students will use various surveys to assess their personality type and interests to discover possible future careers. They also will learn their “Holland Code,” which refers to six personality types – Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional.
Sophomores will explore the education requirements for various careers, along with future employment outlook and income on a state-by-state basis. Students will be able to access Naviance outside of school, and we encourage parents to have a conversation with their child about his or her career interests.
Career exploration is a process, and most high schoolers change their mind many times about which career fields they would like to pursue. We invite parents to become a part of that process by having their son or daughter discuss Naviance and explain his or her results. Parent login information to Naviance will be sent in November and December.
