Addison Trail featured on WGN-TV to celebrate the school’s 50th anniversary

On Sept. 2, Addison Trail was thrilled to share its Blazer Pride with WGN-TV during an “Around Town” segment in honor of the school’s 50th anniversary. On Sept. 2, Addison Trail was thrilled to share its Blazer Pride with WGN-TV during an “Around Town” segment in honor of the school’s 50th anniversary.

Reporter Ana Belaval led the broadcast, which featured:

  • Interviews with District 88 Superintendent Dr. Scott Helton, Addison Trail Principal Michael Bolden and District 88 Board of Education Member and Addison Trail alumna Lisa Lullo.
  • Addison Trail Director of Guidance Kevin Redding and Addison Trail Guidance Counselor Shane Cole speaking with students about the school’s focus on preparing students for post-secondary education through taking freshmen on a visit to University of Wisconsin-Madison for the past 11 years.
  • Interviews with coaches of Addison Trail state-placing teams: Darlene Galgan (Girls Gymnastics), Chad Grant and Dan Styler (Boys Volleyball), Ryan Dini (Boys Soccer), Jim Llorens (Wrestling), Paul Parpet (Football) and Fred Dennis (Boys and Girls Gymnastics).
  • An all-school assembly: Highlighted academic and athletic successes of the school through the years; introduced about 30 Addison Trail staff members who also are alumni.
  • Performances by the Marching Band, Blazettes, Orchesis Team, Cheerleading Team and Theatre (who previewed the school’s upcoming musical, “Grease”).
  • The school singing “Happy Birthday” to Addison Trail’s mascot, Bucky the Blazer, and presenting Bucky with a homemade cake (made by District 88 staff member Veronica Noyola) in honor of 50 years.
  • Students and staff singing the “Blazer Fight Song.”

Deb Delawder, Addison Trail alumna and parent of Addison Trail graduates, helped bring WGN-TV to the school, and Addison Trail physical education teacher Sheri D’Ambrose (also an Addison Trail alumna) helped coordinate the segment.
