On May 28, Addison Trail and Stone Elementary School students showcased the works they created through the Blazer Reading Rainbow project.
Through that project, Stone Elementary School fifth-graders wrote stories, and Addison Trail music production students created audio and sound effects for those stories.
Addison Trail Choir Director Jeff Nellessen said he was inspired to create the project after seeing another teacher implement something similar.
“The Blazer Reading Rainbow gives fifth-graders the opportunity to see how their work can be turned into something else,” Nellessen said. “And it teaches Addison Trail students leadership and responsibility and allows them to experience 21st-century technology firsthand.”
About 45 fifth-graders and about 24 Addison Trail students participated in the project, and 23 works were created. The works ranged from stories about the Bulls to adventures and ghost stories. Illustrated hard copies of the stories also were provided, along with refreshments.
