Addison Trail hosts Poetry Slam

On April 27, eight Addison Trail students participated in a Poetry Slam at the school.

Students shared their original works in the first two rounds of competition and then competed in a lightning round, where they had five minutes to write a poem based on a provided topic. Participants were senior Lucio Delgado, sophomore Adelina Koopman, junior James Krause Jr., sophomore Fiona Levesque, sophomore Manuel Martinez, junior Jeremy Sechan, freshman Brayan Villegas and sophomore Callie Weigelt.

Participants were judged by Writing Center Aide Claire Shoup and Alice Smith (retired Addison Trail teacher). Winners of the event (listed below) received gift certificates to local restaurants.

1st place: Junior Jeremy Sechan

2nd place: Junior James Krause Jr.

3rd place: Sophomore Adelina Koopman
