Addison Trail senior signs to cheer for Robert Morris University Illinois

On March 15, Addison Trail senior Giuseppe Rubino signed to join the Cheer Team at Robert Morris University Illinois in Chicago.

Rubino has only participated in cheerleading for three years, so he’s thrilled to continue with the sport at the collegiate level.

“What I love about cheerleading is you can always challenge yourself,” Rubino said. “There’s always something new to try and learn and another level you can push yourself to reach.”

Rubino said he joined cheerleading after being encouraged by his brother, Michael. Rubino was named as Captain of the Addison Trail Cheerleading Team this year and helped the group reach new levels of success. The Coed Varsity Team finished in the top 5 at all invites, winning four of the six invites. During the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association (ICCA) Championships, the team won 1st place, earning the title of ICCA Coed Champions. Team members also competed in the Coed Stunt Group division for the first time and earned 1st place in that division as well.

Rubino plans to major in criminal justice and pursue a career in law enforcement. He also would like to continue with cheerleading after college as a coach at Elmwood Park High School.
