Addison Trail and Chicago Voyagers continue to provide experiential adventures for students in the ACHIEVE program

On Feb. 20, five Addison Trail students participated in a high-ropes program at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.

The event took place as part of Addison Trail ACHIEVE program’s partnership with Chicago Voyagers. Through that partnership, students are provided with experiential adventures that foster healthy relationships and responsible behavior with a program called "Lighting A Fire." The high-ropes program is ideal for youth to confront fears, work on trust issues and test their perseverance. The course is 32 feet off the ground and is designed with two safety lines that allow students to climb up and navigate through the course.

Students had to climb up ropes, walk across balance beams and work with their partners to complete the obstacles. At the end, students processed and discussed how it felt to confront their fears and trust others. The activity enabled students to see how they can overcome their fears, trust themselves and others and be successful in all aspects of their lives.

Students who participated are sophomore Lisette Hernandez, sophomore Esteban Carrasco, junior Francisco Fernandez, sophomore Victor Rodriguez and sophomore Jairo Rivera.
