Addison Trail hosts Special Olympics Senior Night

On Feb. 23, Addison Trail hosted a Senior Night for the Special Olympics Basketball Team.

Before the game, members of the team who are seniors were recognized for their years of participation. The team played against South Elgin High School and won 37-32, with a last-minute 3-point shot by senior Austin Vitello. The crowd erupted in applause, and the players cheered in celebration.

Senior members of the team are Alejandro Bueno, Johnny Rodriguez, Aleks Iskali and Vitello.

The Special Olympics Team also is participating in a Special Olympics initiative called Respect City (where Addison Trail is competing against other schools to have the most students pledge to respect those with special needs by not using derogatory language). During the Senior Night game, students signed a Respect City banner to participate in the challenge.
