From Jan. 7 to 9, Addison Trail students participated in the 2016 Illinois High School Theatre Festival.

Eight students took part in the Tech Olympics, in which participants compete in several events such as knot tying, focusing a light, setting up a sound system, building a theatre flat and more. The Addison Trail group earned 2nd place and consisted of senior Courtney Cechini, senior Jacob Bartkiewicz, junior Rebeca Robles, junior Jeremy Mihalo, senior Michael Kroll, sophomore Natalia Salamon, sophomore Ethan Macaraeg and sophomore Nicholas Savinos.

According to www.illinoistheatrefest.org, “Produced by the Illinois Theatre Association, the Illinois High School Theatre Festival is the largest and oldest noncompetitive high school theatre festival in the world.” More than 4,000 students, teachers, university representatives, exhibitors and volunteers come together to put on more than 25 different high school productions and about 150 workshops. This year’s event took place at Illinois State University.
