Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department helps students with course selection for 2016-17
It’s that time of the school year – time for students to select their courses for 2016-17.
Members of the classes of 2017 and 2018 will select their courses throughout the month of February. Members of the class of 2019 selected their courses in December and January. Below is the upcoming schedule.
- Class of 2018: Feb. 2 through 5
- Class of 2017: Feb. 9 through 20
The Guidance Department highly encourages parents/guardians to discuss course selection with their student. Course selection is a vital part of a student’s high school career, and parental involvement is essential to assist students in making successful academic choices. We understand your student might need extra time to discuss courses with his or her Guidance Counselor. Students will be able to set up appointments with their Guidance Counselor to follow up with any questions they might have or to add/change course selections. Students have until Feb. 29 to make changes to course selections. All course selections will be considered final after Feb. 29.
Important reminders regarding the registration process:
- Students must be enrolled in at least six periods, plus a lunch.
- Schedules are computer generated. Therefore, we are unable to confirm a specific schedule.
- All course selections will be considered final after Feb. 29.
- A parent/guardian must sign the registration form.
Parents/guardians who would like to meet with their student’s Guidance Counselor to discuss course registration can contact him or her directly. Counselors also will be available during the Guidance Department Open House from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 25.
