On May 1, Addison Trail senior Anthony Metallo signed to wrestle and play football for University of Wisconsin-Platteville (UW-Platteville).
Metallo has participated in wrestling and football since he was 6 years old and looks forward to continuing both sports at the collegiate level. He will fill the position of defensive back for the football team at UW-Platteville.
“I’ve always enjoyed the team atmosphere of football and the individual aspect of wrestling,” Metallo said. “Addison Trail has prepared me mentally and has provided me with life experiences and opportunities that will enable me to be successful in college.”
During his years on the Addison Trail Wrestling Team, Metallo has had 110 wins at the varsity level and is a four-time All-Conference athlete. He also is a three-time Sectional qualifier and competed at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Boys Wrestling State Tournament this year. Metallo has served as Captain of the team for the last two years.
Metallo said the highlights of his high school football career are winning the West Suburban Conference Gold Division title and the first IHSA State-series playoff game against Lake Zurich High School this year.
He thanks Headlock Wrestling Academy in Addison and the Addison Cowboy Football program for helping him develop the skills necessary to fulfill his goal of competing in collegiate sports. He plans to major in physical therapy at UW-Platteville.
