On Jan. 28, Addison Trail hosted a State sendoff for juniors Lia Caruso and Daniel Nowosad, who participated in the Illinois Music Education Conference.
Caruso applied for the conference’s Future Music Educators Symposium and was one of 50 students throughout Illinois selected to participate. The symposium is meant for students who plan to pursue a career in music education. Nowosad was selected to audition for the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-State Orchestra. Only four tuba players throughout Illinois were invited to audition, and Nowosad was named as the top tuba player on Jan. 29.
Both students also performed with the Youth Jazz Ensemble of DuPage, a jazz ensemble of high school musicians. Other Addison Trail students who performed in that group are sophomore Zachery Michaliska, sophomore Trevor Yurek, sophomore Ryan Cabildo, senior Jeff Maginity and sophomore Rachel Mackey.
The conference took place from Jan. 28 to 31 at Peoria Civic Center.
