As the fall season comes to an end, and we look ahead to winter, it’s a great time to reflect on the outstanding start we’ve had to the 2014-15 school year at Addison Trail.
From our Blazer Football Team’s West Suburban Conference championship and playoff run, to our fun-filled Homecoming Week, to the great music and theatre productions by our students and staff, Addison Trail is once again showing why it has been recognized by The Washington Post and Newsweek as one of the top high schools in America!
This fall, in an effort to prepare students for college and career, we once again took all of our freshmen to University of Wisconsin-Madison. And all of our sophomores had the opportunity to visit a variety of schools, including Illinois State University, Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Columbia College Chicago and many more.
Students also were able to meet with working professionals from various career fields during our annual Career Fair. Those professionals shared with students the skills and requirements necessary to enter their particular line of work.
As our students continue to prepare themselves for their future, they also give back to their community. Our Blazers give back through several community fundraising events such as Kiwanis Peanut Day and our Go Pink or Go Home week in October, during which students raise money for breast cancer awareness and research. We are so proud of our faculty and students for their efforts in supporting their school and their community.
It has been an amazing start to the school year! We have more students than ever taking college-level courses through our Advanced Placement (AP) program; we have more students participating in extracurricular activities; and we have more students looking to make a difference not only in their school, but in their community as well.
Thank you for all the support you have provided Addison Trail, and we look forward to the continuation of what has already been an outstanding school year. Go, Blazers!
