Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department shares what’s new for 2014-15

As the 2014-15 school year gets under way, it’s a great time to share what’s new in the Addison Trail Guidance Department.

Students should be sure to check the name of their counselor, as they might have a different counselor this year. The Guidance Department also is excited to welcome a new counselor to the team, and the department has implemented a new procedure for students to request a visit with their counselor.

  • Dana Marine is a new counselor at Addison Trail. She previously worked at Marie Sklodowska Curie Metropolitan High School in Chicago, and her responsibilities at Addison Trail include Advanced Placement (AP)/college-level exams and PSAT testing. Her alpha is A-DEG.
  • Shane Cole is the College and Scholarship Counselor. His new alpha is DEH-J.
  • Tina Gatses is the Groups Coordinator. Her new alpha is K-PA.
  • Kevin Redding is the Director of Guidance. His new alpha is PE-ROJ.
  • John Cord is the Career Counselor. His new alpha is ROK-Z.
  • Alison Nix is the Special Education Counselor and the ACT Coordinator.
  • Jessica Connolly is the ACHIEVE, GOAL and ESL Counselor.

The Guidance Department has three interns for the 2014-15 school year. They are Elizabeth Rohr, David Williams and Vicki Dimitrakakos. Students are welcome to meet with the interns if their counselor is unavailable. The interns’ office is next to the College and Career Center.

When students need to see their counselor, they must sign the Appointment Request binder in the Guidance Office. Counselors will then send the student a pass during one of the student’s free periods. Students should always have a pass to see their counselor.

The Guidance Department looks forward to another fun and exciting year!
