Addison Trail Theatre hosts first 24-Hour Theatre Challenge

On Dec. 6 and 7, more than 30 Addison Trail Theatre students participated in the school’s first 24-Hour Theatre Challenge.

Participants created five short plays on Dec. 6 – from the script, to the set, to production and more. They then performed those shows for an audience of about 100 people on Dec. 7. The five plays were “The Armadillo’s Amigo,” “Penny for Your Thoughts,” “Short Change,” “Thieves for Change” and “Corey Williams.” The theme for the event was “change,” and the shows incorporated the various meanings of that theme.

The challenge was a fundraiser for an upcoming theatre trip, and about $575 was raised. From April 1 to 4, 2014, 24 students will travel to New York City, where they will get to see a Broadway musical and an off-Broadway show, participate in two workshops on Broadway stages, visit New York University and Columbia University, tour performing arts attractions (including the Saturday Night Live stages) and visit the Sept. 11 memorial.
