Addison Trail Theatre invites all students, parents/guardians, alumni, staff, community members and friends to enjoy an evening of entertainment as the school presents its fall play, “Charlotte’s Web,” on Oct. 22, 23 and 24.
Based on the beloved children’s book by E. B. White and adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette, “Charlotte’s Web” tells the heartwarming story of Wilbur, a young pig who forms an unlikely friendship with Charlotte, a wise spider who sets out to save his life. Through themes of friendship, loyalty and the circle of life, the production brings this timeless story to the stage.
SALUTATIONS! Addison Trail Theatre Director Anna McSweeney said this year’s fall production is going to be “some show!” With a playful nod to Charlotte’s famous web, McSweeney described the production as “terrific, radiant and humble” – a show audiences won’t want to miss.
Eighteen Addison Trail students will take the stage to bring this classic tale to life, joined by younger performers ranging from kindergarten through seventh grade.
Junior Rowan O’Hara, who plays the narrator, said the younger performers will be a special part of the production.
“I believe the audience will have a ball seeing the little kids who will be showing up in the show," O'Hara said. "They are going to come on with special parts."
Senior Miya Andrade, who plays Wilbur, said she has enjoyed the opportunity to explore and embrace the character’s emotions and playful personality.
“My favorite part of the role is how much emotion I get to express and how much I get to play with the inner child with Wilbur,” Andrade said.
For senior Littzy Duran-Nieves, playing Charlotte is especially meaningful, because of her longstanding connection to the character.
“My favorite part of being her (Charlotte) is that she has been my favorite ever since elementary school, so this feels like a dream come true to finally be a character I have looked up to and have felt comfort in,” Duran-Nieves said.
